Importance: Spelling Inventory's are important to the education of children because they provide a way for students to be tested and examined to determine where they stand academically compared to their peers without actually feeling compared or anxious. It shows exactly where children fall behind and where they need to begin studying.

Importance: Static Reversal is important to learn and recognize because it could possibly be incorrectly dictated as dyslexia when in reality it may just need to be stated and corrected at the time of confusion.

Kinetic Reversal
Definition: a tendency to confuse palindromes (was and saw; not and ton) and to occasionally read from right to left resulting in a reverse of paired letters or even syllables within a word;

Importance: The reason kinetic reversal is important to the education of learning phonics, is because some children may have issues such as this one when learning to read and write. This can prohibit students from moving forward in the process.

Feature Guide
Definition: a tool used to classify students' errors within a hierarchy of orthographic features. Used to score spelling inventories to assess students' knowledge of specific spelling features at their particular stage of spelling development, and to plan word study instruction to meet individual. Words Their Way.

Importance: Even though I am not sure exactly what the difference between a spelling inventory and a feature guide is, they are both important to determining where a child is at in their learning process. This is the guide in which shows teachers where and what we should be checking in our students spelling.
